roge8014 application
« on: December 26, 2014, 12:56:56 PM »
Hey guys, FWIW here's my application.

I'm M24_Sniper_UK's buddy. My name is Gaz and I'm 42 and live in sunny Stoke.

Both Jon and I were senior admins for Oscarmike up until it disbanded a little over a year ago now - I joined Oscarmike when there was only 10 members and they ran a BFBC2 server, so you can say I was an original founding member. I was with them through BFBC2, BF3 and BF4, running (at one time) 5 servers.

When oM was disbanded I started to help a small Spanish clan, Oaks Clan, and still do today, seeding their server and doing other server admin duties (restarting when bugged, kicking/banning racist players and so on). I recently helped set up BF Portal's German server, but there are only two of us getting this server started, no wider community to help, and with EA removing the ability to us adaptive slots - it's been a very frustrating time.

Like Jon, I've been looking for somewhere to play with decent, like minded players and a server where it's run by a community for the community (just like oM did).

Hope to play some games with you all soon and best (Christmas) wishes.

Hi Gaz, well there isnt really anything needed to join us, would be nice to have some new blood. I see you are good with servers, well thats a bonus as we always need people with these skills. The process we run at the moment is join this platoon http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/platoons/view/202843045139243020/ this will give you your junior tags auk, then once we are happy with you or vise versa :) then you can join the main platoon AUK

(this is a standard process we have implemented because we have had bad people in the past)

I was stunned to see Oscar Mike had gone they were a big community, maybe you can fill me in with what happened.

Anyway welcome aboard join us on Teamspeak as much or as little as you like

I attended North Staffs Polytechnic for a couple of years, half of which was in Stoke.  Fond memories of Newcastle Brown. :)

I went to Cauldon College after I left school in 1985, I was based in the building at the top of Snow Hill, affectionately called Condom House (as it was a rubber factory type place originally!) It was right opposite a Masonic Lodge - twas always fun to watch the comings and going during the late nights at college.

I actually went to University of Central Birmingham for my degree (it was a Polytechnic when I first started there though - that's how long ago it was lol)

I had mates who went to Stafford College and Uni/Poly (both sites) - spent many a night in the Students Union in Stafford and in the Grapes drinking Newkie Brown Ale.

Ah, those were the best times.

Ah, the Grapes..:).  I must be the only person in the world who sat 10 feet away from Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath and hardly remember any of the gig because I was so out of it after drinking too many pints of Newkie Brown.  :)

I also spent a lot of time in the Mutant Turtle up near the Prison. I remember getting crushed in there one night after a rumour circulated that the band members from Fields of the Nephilim were dropping in as it was the bar owners birthday (apparently he used to be in the band).

Only they didn't turn up, only the police who liked to raid the place every now and then for drugs (although the drug den was the Irish Club a few yards up the road :D  )

Damn I miss the Mutant Turtle pub :(
